The Cannabis Control Board was created in 2020 by Act 164. The Board's governing statutes were subsequently amended by Act 62 (2021), Act 158 (2022), and Act 65 (2023).

Emergency Rule: Synthetic & Hemp-Derived Cannabinoids
On April 24, 2023, the Board voted to adopt emergency rules to regulate synthetic and hemp-derived cannabinoids, including delta-8 and delta-10 tetrahyrdocannabinol (THC)
