On March 29, the CCB made an announcement clarifying and reiterating its standing policy prohibiting the use of plastic packaging for cannabis and cannabis products, unless a specific waiver has been granted.
There has been a misconception that Humidico plastic lids, which have a waiver for use with cannabis products (edibles, tinctures, concentrates, etc...), were approved for use with cannabis flower. They are not, and never have been. This misconception was compounded by CCB error, which wrongly granted product registrations to a limited number of cannabis flower products in non-compliant plastic packaging.

In the meantime, the CCB understands that many licensees have purchased Humidico jars with plastic lids. Standard 53/400 metal lids will fit Humidico glass jars.

Plastic Humidico lids purchased by licensees who cannot compliantly use them may sell their plastic lids to other licensees in need, if they so choose.
